Two documentaries from the University of Alabama Center for Public Television and Radio will be featured this month at film festivals.

"Eric Essix: At Home" will screen at the Kansas City Filmmakers Jubilee in Kansas City, Missouri. Each year this festival presents an emphasis on jazz music films through its CinemaJAZZ program and Dwight Cammeron's documentary featuring Birmingham jazz guitarist, Eric Essix, has been selected to open the program at the Screenland Theatre on Friday, April 20th.

The Essix documentary received the award for Best Faculty Film from the George Lindsey UNA Film Festival in March.

"Richard Johnston: Hill Country Troubadour" has been selected as a finalist in the Appalachian Film Festival held in Huntington, West Virginia and will screen in the Keith Albee Theatre also on April 20th.

Directed by Max Shores, the Johnston documentary has received awards for Best Alabama Film and First Place Professional Documentary from the George Lindsey UNA Film Festival, Best of Show and First Place Documentary from the Macon Georgia Film & Video Festival, and Second Place Feature Documentary from the Tupelo Film Festival.
